Mariana Paniagua trabaja y vive en la Ciudad de México. A través de lo que ella define como una práctica artística errática, pinta. No partiendo de bocetos o de imágenes iniciales, sino a través de su proceso, de su ritmo. Equivocarse, reiniciar, borrar es algo que disfruta de su proceso creativo. 

Trabaja con el paisaje como fuerza. Algo que la atraviesa: un “paisaje metabolizado” que parte de la sensación corporal de aquellas fuerzas naturales sobre ella y su vulnerabilidad. Vulnerabilidad que subraya al no hacer bocetos, a no trabajar de lo que para ella es un punto de partida seguro, una imagen cerrada.

Su búsqueda está en fisurar la imagen a través del proceso mismo de creación de una pieza.Su búsqueda está en fisurar la imagen. La pintura, como acontecimiento, entra en el juego su propio cuerpo.

Sus influencias son: Ana Mendieta (una referencia al trabajo con el cuerpo), la escultura de Eva Hesse o Louis Bourjois. 

Sus dos últimos trabajos se complementan desde sus distintos fines.  El primero es una pieza comisionada por uno de nuestros coleccionistas de Diderot Art. Una pieza que parte de la intuición de lo que el coleccionista buscaba: un trabajo de capas, algo que llamo mucho su atención. Ir tapando y jugando con la presencia de lo que hay debajo. Algo que permanece aún cuando no sea visible. Una oportunidad de pensar la pintura como algo diferente, tridimensional, capas. Con una paleta específica surgió la pieza desde la sensación que los colores elegidos provocaban en ella.

La segunda pieza, una creada específicamente para dialogar, con Dr. Atl (Gerardo Murillo); en su aventura de inmortalizar a uno de los más importantes fenómenos geológicos que manifiestan la energía interna del planeta: los volcanes.

Una muestra que al igual que el arte de Mariana busca explorar las complejas relaciones que los seres humanos establecen con las entidades naturales. Las tormentas como la metáfora que enuncia la vulnerabilidad corporal. Como frente a las fuerzas de la naturaleza no hay nada que nos proteja. En su última exposición individual” Yo pasé entre los dos colmillos”, Mariana trabajo un paisaje más obscuro, más esotérico donde las fueras no explicitas de la catástrofe hablaban de lo oculto, de la intuición. Una serie de piezas más misteriosas.

Paniagua trabaja por flujos, no por series, buscando que su obra sean “intuiciones formales y plásticas, poéticas y simbólicas” Los elementos del paisaje como un cuerpo no como una atmósfera.
